Recently founded by mother and daughter duo, Brenda and Kayla Kelly, the Kelly Group L.L.C., has a combined total of over fifty years of experience in business, federal and local government, nonprofit, community service, and education. We provide a unique approach to consulting, as we seek to provide mentoring, coaching and education services to leaders, organizations, parents and children to improve achievement outcomes and empower our community

PRESIDENT/CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Brenda Kelly

Began her career working at the U. S. Department of Labor as a Presidential Management Intern (now referred to as the Presidential Management Fellows) , and recently retired from her position as the Deputy Director of Operations at the District of Columbia Department of Health. Brenda has worked in public service at the federal and local level for over forty years. In addition, Brenda has served as a mayoral appointee to both the Board of Trustees, United Planning Organization (1996- 2007) and the DC Statewide Health Coordinating Council (2012-2018). She remains very active in her community today. Brenda’s experience and continued involvement in public and community service enables her to “stay in touch” and be sensitive to the needs of the community. Her knowledge and skills enable her to identify a pathway to provide solutions to challenges faced.

Kayla Kelly

Kayla’s early beginning in education started when she was a Girl Scout. She earned her Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards by creating programs geared toward improving literacy rates and educational outcomes for members of her community in Washington, D.C. In addition, she tutored and mentored children in math and English at the Latino Student Fund and the Higher Achievement Program in Washington, DC and Jumpstart AmeriCorps in Atlanta, Georgia. Kayla earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with a concentration in Applied Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and her Master’s of Science degree in Education with a concentration in Secondary Math Education and Special Education from Johns Hopkins University. Currently, Kayla is a 11th and 12th grade mathematics teacher within D.C. Public Schools and is dually certified to teach special education and secondary math education.

CONSULTANT

Theresa Kelly

Theresa Kelly began her career over 40 years ago as an elementary school teacher.  After many years as a classroom teacher, she became a Literacy Coach and Professional Developer where she assisted teachers with the implementation of Common Core Standards, using the following researched-based practices:  observation, coaching, model lessons, collaborative lesson planning, and small and large group professional development. She assisted teachers in diagnosing individual student reading and writing weaknesses, monitored the progress of struggling students, offered suggestions for intervention, and matched areas of need with appropriate strategies and resources.  She provided classroom management strategies to help teachers ensure that classroom lessons run smoothly without disruptive behavior from students compromising the delivery of instruction.
